Every species in the Crisp program is a renewable wood, chosen for how well it performs on the building over time.
Sustainable and durable.
Lunawood grows slowly in Finnish forests, where long winters and short summers produce dense, even growth. It is thermally modified with heat and steam only. No chemicals are used at any stage.
The process increases the wood’s durability and resistance to decay, with an expected service life for exterior cladding of up to 30 years, according to Lunawood. Lunawood’s Nordic products store up to five times more carbon than is released during their production (Lunawood Environmental Product Declaration). Lunawood holds FSC® and PEFC chain of custody certification and has committed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions 42% by 2030 and reaching carbon neutral operations by 2035.
Naturally resistant.
Western Red Cedar is native to the Pacific Northwest. Its heartwood contains natural extractives, including thujaplicin, that help it resist decay and insects without added preservatives.
Fallen cedar trees have been found to remain sound for more than 100 years. It is among the most dimensionally stable softwoods, resisting warping, twisting and checking, and one of the lightest, with natural thermal and acoustic insulating value.
Clean and consistent.
Western Hemlock is straight grained with a fine, even, lustrous texture. It is non-resinous, so it takes colour evenly from board to board.
Its strength and stiffness suit long runs across exterior soffits, interior walls and ceilings.
Protected from day one.
Every board is sealed on all six faces and delivered complete, so the wood is protected before it reaches site.
Each order ships with one gallon of touch-up stain and is backed by the Crisp 15-year limited warranty. A simple yearly wash keeps it looking its best.
